One of the top questions I get asked is , "What is the difference between deodorant and antiperspirant?" They live side by side on the shelf at the stores, but they are quite different.
Antiperspirants contain aluminum based compounds that physically block your pores, thus stopping the body from sweating. Deodorants do not stop the body from sweating, but neutralize the odor caused by sweating. Your body is still able to do it's thing, without the addition of toxic ingredients.
Not all deodorants are created equal
Not all deodorants are free from artificial ingredients. It is important to choose a deodorant that does not contain synthetic fragrance. Choosing an all natural deodorant means that the fragrances used to scent the deodorant are derived from the earth. Plant based scents, such as essential oils, are not only kinder for your skin, but they often have natural properties that aid in natural odor control.
Ingredients Used in Lion & Rose Natural Deodorant:
Baking Soda and Arrowroot Powder: Are used for their odor-eliminating properties and absorbency.
Magnesium Hydroxide: Used in place of Baking Soda for the sensitive skin formula: Magnesium Hydroxide, found in soothing products such as Milk of Magnesia, balances the body’s natural pH while killing odor-causing bacteria without reducing skin moisture or causing skin damage.
Kaolin Clay: Adds extra dryness protection. It will help at whisking away sweat and drying it up before it reaches your clothes.
Coconut Oil: This healing ingredient contains Vitamin E and has anti-aging properties. It naturally protects your skin from microbial infections.
Beeswax: Beeswax is the leftover part of a bees hive after the bees have produced their honey and moved on. This ingredient provides protection against irritants, while still allowing the skin to breathe. It contains anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral benefits.
Shea Butter: This ingredient provides your skin with the essential fatty acids that help make collagen. Shea butter is also naturally rich in Vitamins A, E, F and offers a UV protection of SPF 6.
Castor Oil: As an all-star emollient, castor oil may help relieve the symptoms of dryness and itching in conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Its anti-inflammatory properties are also beneficial for these skin conditions.
Essential Oils used:
Orange Essential oil: Contains all-natural antimicrobial properties (this means that bacteria is killed before it starts to grow).
Lemongrass Essential Oil: Has anti-fungal and antimicrobial properties, which aids in stopping the growth of bacteria.
Bergamot Essential Oil: Note* Lion & Rose deodorants use steam distilled oils. It’s known to help balance oily skin and other frustrating skin ailments in a way that’s relatively gentle. In fact, it’s often added to cleansers and moisturizers to gently help unclog pores and slough away excess oil.
Eucalyptus Essential Oil: The healing benefits of Eucalyptus Oil can be attributed to its anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, decongestant, deodorant, and antiseptic qualities, among other valuable properties.
Tea Tree Essential Oil: It has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It calms redness, swelling, and inflammation with skin.
Lavender Essential Oil: This essential oil is an anti-microbial, is anti-inflammatory, and is very soothing to sensitive skin.
Lime Essential Oil: Has natural anti-bacterial properties.
